Ms. Chai specializes in litigation and arbitration relating to real estate, banking and finance, insurance, telecommunications and general contractual disputes. She is also experienced in handling non-litigious matters for clients in the above areas.

Ms. Chai handled a number of important litigation and arbitration cases before courts of all levels, including over 10 cases at the Supreme People’s Court. She has rich experience as a litigator. The cases she handled cover disputes over commercial contracts, title and ownership, security interests in real property, mortgage rights, unjust enrichment, torts, labor and administrative disputes. She also has experience in appealing court decisions with the Procuratorate. While many of her cases are complicated and influential, most have been resolved with satisfactory outcomes for clients.

Ms. Chai also provides general corporate counseling for a number of clients in different industry sectors including real estate, banking, insurance, travel, culture, publishing, entertainment, mass media, energy investment, telecommunications, medical devices and information technology. She is familiar with the conventions of the relevant industries and offers practical, well-grounded, legal advice. She has also led or was involved in completing a number of due diligence projects having insurance companies, real estate companies, energy companies or financial lease companies as targets.

Working Experience

Ms. Chai began practicing law in 2001 and joined Lifang in 2004. She was promoted to Partner with the Commercial Litigation and Arbitration Department in 2015.

Notable Cases

- Represented a Municipal People's Government against a Travel Agency in a dispute over a management contract for a tourist attraction, which involved RMB 318 million, in the first and second instances before the Supreme People's Court in 2018.

Represented CSR Group Wuchang Vehicle Plant on property lease contract dispute in the first instance before Hubei High People's Court, which involved RMB 400 million, 2018.

Represented Langfang Land Development and Construction Investment Holdings in an equity transfer dispute, which involved RMB 280 million, in 2018.

Represented Founder Securities in the second instance of a credit assignment dispute before the Supreme People's Court, which involved RMB 361 million, in 2017.

Represented Qu Quanda in loan contract dispute with Feng Ming in retrial before the Supreme People's Court, which involved RMB 800 million.

Represented Jiangsu Guanghua Energy Company in the civil retrial relating to an equity transfer contract dispute, which involved RMB 500 million.

Represented China Mingsheng Bank Handan Branch in a negotiable instrument dispute which involved RMB 1 billion.

Represented China Mingsheng Bank Hong Kong Branch infringement case, which involved RMB 485 million.

Represented China Mingsheng Bank Dalian and Tianjin Branches in a loan contract dispute, which involved RMB 680 million.
